About
Anna Lisa Escobedo is a visual artist, artivist, event producer, cultural worker, and networker. Born and raised in Central Los Angeles, CA., she moved to San Francisco in 2008 to go to school. She is first generation in her family to graduate from college.
She has worked on numerous art projects and for community-based organizations in the San Francisco (SF) Bay Area. Her work encompasses a range of visual, literary, and multicultural art projects, including: the mural restoration of The Women’s Building “Maestrapeace” mural with the non-profit organization, Precita Eyes Muralists. In 2017, she established a poetry series to activate the Mission Public Library on behalf of Friends of the SF Library with SF Poet Laureate, Kim Shuck; writer and editor, Denise Sullivan along with many other womxn poets. As an artist, she has installed artworks at District 9 office in SF City Hall, SomArts, and Alcatraz Prison. In 2019, installed a piece in the lobby of the SF Symphony that honored black and brown lives lost due to inner city life and ongoing police brutality.
In 2014, she helped found Calle 24 Latino Cultural District. She served as a board member for the non-profit and chaired the Cultural Arts and Assets Committee. She worked closely with various art-based non-profit organizations in the Mission District of San Francisco including CARNAVAL San Francisco, Brava Theatre, Acción Latina, SF Latino Film Festival and many art businesses.
Anna Lisa Escobedo wears multiple hats to make an event, program or gathering an experience with purpose. She works towards creating space that calls for inclusivity, safe, exciting and critical. She is a visual artist, artivist, event producer, cultural worker, and networker.
